Welcome to The Yoga Factory. The studio is located in a renovated former cheese factory located on the property of the instructor, Karen Caruana, and her husband, Matt Caruana. Built in 1907, the former cheese factory stood empty for 50 years. In the summer of 2012, Matt and Karen renovated part of the building into a warm, sunny and inviting yoga studio.
Karen completed her 500-hour yoga teacher training in the discipline of Hatha Yoga in June 2015 at Wavelengths Yoga Studio and School, located in nearby Norwood. She has been teaching classes at her studio since September 2012.
Karen’s teachings follow the tradition of Krishnamacharya, whose teachings influenced many yoga traditions.
“My class at the Yoga Factory is my weekly oasis of tranquility and mindfulness. I have always struggled with committing to classes but Karen makes it easy. She is a gentle, knowledgeable instructor and the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. Karen has taught me how to make the most out of every stretch and pose, as well as how to incorporate yoga and stillness into my daily routine. I look forward to it every week!”
~~ Karen, Campbellford
In this class we will focus on gentle, restorative postures. Props (chairs, bolsters, blocks and blankets) will be used to help gently stretch the body. The use of breath work will help release stress and quiet the mind. This class will provide an opportunity to stretch and strengthen the body while focusing the mind on the task at hand. While geared towards students new to yoga, this class is open to anyone wishing to feel restored and relaxed. Modifications to the postures will be offered to suit students’ needs.
The Yoga Factory offers classes for all ages and abilities. From restorative classes, for students with mobility issues or students desiring a restorative style class using props, to gentle classes for students wishing to unwind at the end of a long day, to more energetic intermediate level classes to challenge your abilities, you will find something just for you! Karen will offer modifications for all postures, as required.
This Hatha-based class combines movement, breath work and mindfulness. A combination of flowing sequences and holding postures create a more challenging class. Classes will build upon one another. This class is geared towards students with a background in yoga; however, modifications will be offered to meet students’ needs.
